Microsoft SEO Toolkit for IIS – free download

by Anders B. Skjønaa (SharePointPeople.dk)

Microsoft released a SEO Toolkit as a free download, to run on top of your IIS based website. This toolkit includes a pretty impressive set of reporting capabilities, that enables you – a person that has acces to the ISS management application (this is still a tech tool) – to do some deep analysis of what happens inside your website.

The toolkit will find issues on your site, based on a long list of SEO best practices and it is supposed to be optimized for Google, Bing and Yahoo, so you should be covered pretty good…

I have only tested the tool in my “playground area” so no real experiences yet, but it seems promising, as getting this level of insight into websites used to require a lot more – at least more money.

SEO for SharePoint based sites

The next thing is to find out what the results will be if you run this against a SharePoint 2010 based internet faced website. It should work fine, but what will the reuslts look like? If you have done this, I would love to learn from your experiences.
